Yes, Construction starts are back!

What is up with all that dirt flying around?  Well, according to Steve Mauk, with Yavapai County Development Services,  Raw Land splits are up, Perc tests are up, and we are at "pre-crash" 2008 levels of permits in the County...with no increase in staff.

Steve is turning to the Digital Age for help.  Pemits issued since 1996 are digitalized and upload to the County website, and they are waiting on approval to get the equiment to digitize their records pre-dating 1996.  Permits were not something that was required until 1968, so even with the digitizing of documents, don't plan on finding permits older than that.  My home was built (according to the neighbor) about 1962 or 1962.  The first permit the City has on file for my home is a porch enclosure in 1964.

Now if you want to develop land in the County, in an unincorporated area, you will need an Affidavit of Disclosure and you will NOT be granted a permit without it!  So make sure you have that in place and it is recorded with the County BEFORE you go down the permit path.  When was the Affidavit of Disclosure required?  Well, it was floating about for those that cared to use it around 2002-2003, but not really required until 2004-2005 according to Steve.

Now for some Yarnell News... Steve Mauk had an update to share: 35 homes are under construction which makes up about 25% of the homes lost.  ZERO public dollars have been used in the rebuilding!

As I get more updates and interesting tidbits on the Prescott area, I will share them here, so stay tuned!

Prescott Living.  What is Prescott Living about?  Hi, I am Lora Lopas, born and raised in Arizona, having grown up in Prescott, AZ.  I love my hometown, where I choose to work and play.  Prescott, AZ has 4 seasons, unique for most people who think Arizona as nothing but desert.  High desert is what we call this area, with everything from flat lands to mountains, cactus to pine trees.  This mild climate does get a bit of snow in the winter with about 300 days of sunshine throughout the year.  Highs in the summer can get over 100 (usually in July) but Prescott, AZ nights are nice and cool.  Some residents wear shorts nearly all year!
